As populations rise, so does the likelihood for car accidents

Due to rising populations, roadways across the state of Hawaii are more crowded than ever before. Getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle is becoming more and more dangerous. Even taking a short drive can potentially end in an accident as drivers these days face an abundance of distractions.

Most car accidents are minor fender benders, but some prove to be serious and even fatal. A recent accident on the H-2 freeway near Waipio Gentry resulted in serious injuries to a man and a young girl. The accident happened during the morning hours close to the highway on-ramp. According to reports, a Honda Fit and a Nissan Altima were traveling south and collided as one of the vehicles attempted to merge onto the highway.

Authorities say the driver of the Honda, a 33-year-old man, lost control of the car and struck a tree. The crash resulted in injuries to the man and a young child who was a passenger in the Honda, police say. The man and child were both transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to reports. The driver of the Nissan refused treatment and cooperated with authorities on the scene.

With populations booming across the state of Hawaii, highways can quickly become congested with traffic. Driving in heavy traffic requires full attention and constant focus. Car accidents happen when drivers neglect to pay attention to the road and their surroundings. Those injured in accidents such as this may be able to take legal action. A successful personal injury lawsuit could provide financial relief to victims and their loved ones to help with medical expenses.
