The rise in cycling and pedestrian accidents is troubling

Not only is biking a popular form of recreation in Hawaii these days, it is also a great source of transportation. By biking, commuters can avoid congested city streets while saving money on fuel costs. Cycling is also very healthy and a great way to stay in shape. However, due to increased traffic, pedestrian accidents are on the rise across the state of Hawaii, and biking along crowded roadways can be very dangerous. A recent hit-and-run accident near Ewa Beach on the island of Oahu left a woman with serious injuries.

The woman said she was riding her bicycle along North Road on a recent afternoon. According to the woman, a car swiftly approached from her left while she was riding her bike along the shoulder and struck her. Apparently, several witness saw the car sideswipe the woman. The woman said the impact knocked her to the ground, and she began crawling in an attempt to avoid oncoming traffic.

Reports say that some good Samaritans stopped near the scene to render aid and they called an ambulance. The woman said that she broke both of her arms in the accident, and she reportedly required surgery to repair a broken wrist. The driver that allegedly struck the woman left the scene of the accident, reports said. The woman claims that her quality of life has suffered greatly as a result of her injuries.

Running and biking have become popular forms of recreation across Hawaii in recent years. Tragically, accidents involving pedestrians and bicyclists are more likely to result in serious injuries since they are totally exposed. Those that have been injured or lost loved ones in bicycle or pedestrian accidents could benefit by seeking the services of a knowledgeable attorney. A successful lawsuit could provide victims and families with financial relief to help them through this difficult experience.
