Motorcycle accidents: Oahu crash claims the life of motorcyclist

For many people, motorcycles are not only a fun way to travel, but also a way of life. Riding motorcycles is a popular form of recreation in Hawaii, and here there are no shortage of scenic, beautiful roadways for motorcyclists to enjoy. However, roads across the state are becoming increasingly congested with traffic and downright dangerous. Because of this, motorcycle accidents are on the rise.

A motorcyclist lost his life in a recent accident on the island of Oahu. The crash happened during the early evening hours on Farrington Highway. According to police reports, the motorcyclist was traveling west when a van exited a gas station and pulled into the path of the motorcyclist.

Authorities said the motorcyclist was critically injured in the collision and transported to a local hospital. Tragically, he passed away two days later, reports said. The driver of the van was uninjured and cooperated with police. Reportedly, this was the 59th traffic-related death so far this year on Oahu.

There's no doubt that motorcycles can be fun, but those who travel by motorcycle are faced with dangers that are not present for those in passenger vehicles. Motorcycles have a smaller profile and are harder to see, so motorists in Hawaii should always stay focused and on the lookout for motorcycles. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for motorcycle accidents to be fatal. Those who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to negligence in a motorcycle accident could benefit from discussions with a legal representative. A successful lawsuit could result in monetary damages to help families with end-of-life expenses and other financial losses.
