Premises liability laws were established for safety

The state of Hawaii is one of most popular tourists destinations in the world. Home to world-class dining and shopping, not to mention a multitude of outdoor attractions, there is something here for everyone. Premises liability laws state that the owners of these business and attractions must maintain a safe environment for all visitors lawfully on the property. Liquids or foreign objects left on floors may cause slip-and-fall accidents. However, improper lighting or uneven flooring can also cause accidents.

A man in another state filed a lawsuit after he was allegedly injured from falling near a pool at a hotel. According to the lawsuit, the man was utilizing a pathway near the indoor pool of the hotel. Allegedly, there was standing water on the pathway, causing the man to slip and fall.

The plaintiff claims that the pathway was not properly lit, making the water on the ground virtually invisible. The lawsuit says the man suffered severe injuries to his knee and leg, causing him to require a wheelchair just to be able to travel back home. The plaintiff was forced to undergo surgery due to his injury and is now unable to work, according to claims. He seeks an unspecified amount in monetary damages.

Thousands of preventable accidents occur every year in public places across the country. Premises liability laws were established for the safety of customers and visitors. Those in Hawaii who have received injuries in a public place due to the negligence of property or business owners could benefit from discussions with a legal representative. A successful claim could result in monetary relief for victims and families who have suffered loss.
