News: Bicyclist dies after being struck by vehicle on Sand Island Access Road
The accident happened at about 7:10 a.m. on Sand Island Access Road near Keehi Marine Center.
It was reported to the police department's Traffic Division that a motorist was traveling eastbound when he struck an unidentified male bicyclist. The bicycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorist and his passenger, both 34-year-old men, were not injured.
Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision, the 31st traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 68 at this time in 2025.
