News: Man dies after being hit by vehicle on H-1 Freeway ramp in Kunia

Pedestrian accident in Kunia
KUNIA, HI -A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in the Kunia area, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Emergency crews responded to the scene Oct. 11 on the H-1 Freeway eastbound on-ramp at about 4:50 a.m.

Investigators determined that a 60-year-old man was driving on the ramp near Kunia Road when he struck a male pedestrian who was crossing the on-ramp, outside of a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, and was pronounced dead two days later.

The driver was not injured and stayed at the scene. Police do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision, the 33rd traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 69 at this time in 2025.
