HONOLULU, HI -Paramedics came to the aid of seven people who were injured in a crash near Kualoa Ranch on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. The head-on collision took place at 49-132 Kamehameha Highway near Coral Kingdom at about 3:45 p.m. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to treat the injured victims. Three people were hospitalized in serious condition, a woman in her 60s, a 49-year-old woman, and a 54-year-old man. Three women and a man who were also involved were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The wreck shut down Kamehameha Highway in both directions, and motorists were warned of water on the road in Waikane. KALIHI, HI - A moped rider was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the Kalihi area on Monday afternoon. The Honolulu Police Department stated that the collision happened on North Kuakini Street at about 1:40 p.m. Investigators said that a 19-year-old woman was driving westbound on North Kuakini Street when she attempted to make a left turn into the Liliha Bakery parking lot, and collided with a 62-year-old man riding a moped eastbound. The moped rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and stayed at the scene. At this time, police say speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash. KIHEI, HI - A car and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly collision in Kihei on Friday night, the Maui News reported. The crash took place shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Piilani Highway near Kaonoulu Street. Maui police investigators determined that the driver of a 2013 Ford Edge was making a left turn onto the highway when the vehicle was struck by a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle going south on Piilani Highway. The motorcycle rider, a 37-year-old Kihei man, was ejected from the bike, and was pronounced dead after being taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Ford driver, an 18-year-old man from Kihei, was not hurt. The Ford driver was arrested for third-degree negligent injury and was released pending further investigation, police said.
