News: Victim of Hilo pedestrian accident identified as 71-year-old Pāhoa woman
The woman killed was 71-year-old Pamela Lovett of Pāhoa, police said in a news release.
She was struck by a vehicle Oct. 22 at about 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Kanoelehua Avenue and East Kahaopea Street.
Police learned that a 2023 Kia four-door sedan was traveling Hilo bound on Kanoelehua Avenue when it struck Lovett. She was initially reported to be crossing the road and was not in a marked crosswalk. Lovett was declared dead at the scene.
The Kia driver, a 39-year-old Pahoa man, was not injured in the collision.
The East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and is continuing the investigation.
At this time, police do not believe that speed and inattention were factors in the crash.
